For this part you will need:
The frame now looks and feels like a frame, but you still have to put on the rod on the bottom that will hold the z-axis in place. When you complete this step, the frame will be all ready to put all the axes on. We won't need any tools for this part. Here's the completed frame you'll end up with: Take the 440mm threaded rod and put an 8mm nut onto one of the ends and thread it down the rod a couple inches. Put an 8mm washer onto that end, followed by a bar-clamp, another 8mm washer, and then another 8mm nut. The picture below shows the order and how it should look once it's put on. Run the long end of the rod through the bar-clamp pieces that are on the bottom rod in the triangles. Once it's been put through both bar-clamps, put an 8mm nut onto the end so it cannot come back through. You will need to add another 8mm washer, bar-clamp, 8mm washer, then 8mm nut to finish this end off. We will be positioning these pieces when we put the z-axis on, so we don't need to worry too much about that yet. Your frame is now done and ready to put the axes on; It should look like the first picture. Next up, we'll be starting to put all the axes on. Our next task will be putting the y-axis and bed on, continue here |
