Y-Axis(Bed) Assembly PDF Print Email

For this part you will need:

  • 6x M3 Nuts
  • 3x M3x10mm Cap Screws
  • 4x M3x22mm Cap Screws
  • 2x M3x8mm Grub Screws
  • 4x LM8UU Bearings
  • 8x Small Zip Ties
  • 1x T5 Pitch Belt, 840mm Length
  • 1x NEMA 17 Stepper Motor
  • 1x Thick Sheet for Bed
  • 2x 8mm Smooth Rods, 406mm Length
  • 4x lm8uu-ymount printed pieces
  • 2x belt-clamp printed pieces
  • 2x belt-clamp-nut-holder printed pieces
  • 1x belt-pulley printed pieces

 

In this part you will be putting on the rods for the y-axis, the bed onto them, and then the belt to move the bed .  You may want a pair of pliers to help pull the belt tight.  You will need a 2.5mm size allen wrench to tighten the cap screws and a 1.5mm one to tighten up the grub screws.  You will need something to take a measurement so that you can make sure that the rods run parallel to the frame.  This is where we'll end up after this step:

Z-Axis Assembly - Rods PDF Print Email

For this part you will need:

  • 12x M3 Nuts
  • 8x M3 Washers
  • 4x M3x16mm Cap Screws
  • 8x M3x22mm Cap Screws
  • 4x LM8UU Bearings
  • 2x 8mm Smooth Rods, 350mm Length
  • 2x rod-clamp printed pieces
  • 1x x-end-idler printed piece
  • 1x x-end-motor printed piece

 

In this part you'll be putting the rods on for the z-axis that the x-axis will slide up and down on.  You will want a 2.5mm allen wrench to tighten the M3 cap screws and 5.5mm wrench or socket to tighten down M3 nuts.  You will also need some sort of plumb line or small level.  All you need is a string a couple feet long and something to tie onto it for weight.  Here is where you will be after this step:

Z Motors, X-Axis Rods and Carriage PDF Print Email

For this part you will need:

  • 8x M3 Washers
  • 8x M3 x 10mm Cap Screws
  • 3x LM8UU Bearings
  • 2x NEMA 17 Stepper Motors
  • 2x 8mm Smooth Rods, 420mm Length
  • 1x dualfanxcarriage printed piece

 

In this part you will be putting on the rods for the x-axis as well as putting the carriage on them.  We will need the 2.5mm allen wrench again to tighten down the cap screws.  All the axes will be on after this step and our printer will look like this:

X-Axis Assembly - Belt and Motor PDF Print Email

For this part you will need:

  • 6x M3 Nuts
  • 2x M8 Nuts
  • 4x M3 Washers
  • 3x M8 Washers
  • 3x M3x10mm Cap Screws
  • 4x M3x22mm Cap Screws
  • 2x M3x8mm Grub Screws
  • 1x M8x50mm Threaded Rod
  • 2x 608ZZ Skate Bearings
  • 1x NEMA 17 Stepper Motor
  • 1x T5 Pitch Belt, 900mm Length
  • 1x belt-guide printed piece
  • 1x belt-pulley printed piece
  • 2x belt-clamp printed pieces

 

This part consists of putting on the belt that drives the x-axis carriage back and forth.  This will be similar to putting on the belt for the y-axis.  You will need an 1.5mm allen wrench for the grub screws, a 2.5 allen wrench for the cap screws, and a couple of 13mm wrenches to tighten the nuts on the idler bolt.  You may also want some pliers to help pull the belt tight.

Z-Axis Assembly - Threaded Rod and Couplers PDF Print Email

For this part you will need:

  • 8x M3 Nuts
  • 4x M8 Nuts
  • 4x M3x10mm Cap Screws
  • 8x M3x22mm Cap Screws
  • 2x M8x210mm Threaded Rods
  • 2x 8mm Inside Diameter Springs
  • 4x z-half-coupler-8mm-5mm printed pieces

 

This is the final step of the assembly for the axes.  In this part you will be putting the x-axis onto a couple of threaded rods that raise and lower the whole x-axis assembly we finished in the last step.  This drives the z-axis for the printer.  As far as tools go, we will need a 2.5mm allen wrench to tighten cap screws and a level to make sure that the x-axis is horizontal.  This is what the printer will look like with all the axes on:
